Record for playing in the most finals
There is no doubt that India has always dominated the Under-19 World Cup. Interestingly, India has reached the final of the Under-19 World Cup 10 times out of 16 editions, which is the most. India had reached the final for the sixth consecutive time. The team reached the final in 2016, 2018, 2020, 2022, 2024, and 2026. This statistic alone is enough to show that the Indian team is unmatched in Under-19 cricket. Even the Australian team lags far behind India. Australia has reached the Under-19 World Cup final six times and won the title four times.
Largest Run Chase in Under-19 World Cup History
India also holds the record for the largest run chase in the Under-19 World Cup. The team achieved this feat in the semi-final match against Afghanistan. Afghanistan, batting first, scored 310 runs for the loss of four wickets in 50 overs. In reply, Aaron George scored a century for India, while Vaibhav Suryavanshi and captain Ayush Mhatre scored half-centuries, enabling the team to chase down the target, scoring 311 runs for the loss of three wickets in 41.1 overs. India thus created the record for the largest run chase in the Under-19 World Cup. Previously, this record belonged to New Zealand, who chased down a target of 305 runs against Ireland in 2006. India broke this 20-year-old record.
