Modi government has launched 'PM Vishwakarma Yojana' to provide loan assistance to the traditional craftsmen and artisans of the country at minimum interest rates without any guarantee.
The scheme aims to increase the reach and quality of products and services offered by traditional artisans and craftsmen. Within ten days of its launch, approximately 1.40 lakh people have applied to avail the benefits of this scheme.

It is a matter of joy to receive more than 1.40 lakh applications within 10 days of the launch of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme for Vishwakarma brothers and sisters.
A huge number of applications received within 10 days of the launch of this scheme, which was a result of the visionary thinking of PM Modi, shows the unexpected success and necessity of the scheme.
He further wrote, "PM Vishwakarma Yojana will prove to be a milestone for the all-round development of our Vishwakarma brothers and sisters who have been socially and economically backward for years and will give them their lost respect and identity."
What is the benefit of the scheme?
Under this scheme, the needy can avail of collateral-free enterprise development loans of Rs 1 lakh (1st installment for 18 months repayment) and Rs 2 lakh (2nd installment for 30 months repayment). Citizens of 18 years of age can apply to avail the benefits of this scheme.
