There is talk of some MLAs of the Bahujan Samaj Party meeting the top leadership of SP on Tuesday morning. This meeting is considered important for the Legislative Council elections and the 2022 assembly elections. The special thing is that five such MLAs have already been expelled by the BSP.
Sources in the Samajwadi Party say that the BSP MLAs were in talks with the top leadership of the SP for some time already. Senior party functionaries have reached Lucknow from Delhi late on Monday evening. The meeting was prepared in the night itself. At around 9:00 am, four other party MLAs met the MLAs who had been expelled from the BSP earlier. After this, all of them came together to meet the SP leadership.
Doubts about joining the party
There is still doubt about BSP MLAs joining the Samajwadi Party. Defection law is an obstacle in their way. He cannot even join the SP Legislature Party Board. For this, first, the letter will have to be submitted to the Speaker of the Assembly. In such a situation, the strategists of the SP want that there should be no obstacle before the Legislative Council elections.
The Legislative Council will likely take the next step forward only after the elections. After getting the support of BSP MLAs, Samajwadi Party will easily win 3 members of the Legislative Council.
