Preparation to vaccinate 300 million people in the country by July-August; Instructions for uploading health workers' data to Covin

The central government has planned to apply corona vaccine to 300 million people by July-August next year. At the same time, the Kerala government has formed a high-level committee to make the vaccine at its level. Meanwhile, Moderna has also applied for emergency approval after Pfizer in the US.

 

Vaccination will start in India next year

 

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has said that in the first 3-4 months of next year we will be in a position to provide vaccines to the people. By July-August 2021, we have planned to vaccinate 25-30 crore people and are preparing to keep that in mind. He also said that until the vaccine is found, the mask is the vaccine. Applying masks and maintaining social distancing will be very important.

 

Instructions to the states- Upload data of health workers on the Covin app

 

The Union Health Ministry has directed states and UTs to upload the data of healthcare workers on the Covid-19 Vaccine Intelligence Network (COVIN). These health workers plan to apply the corona vaccine on a priority basis. The Covin app has been developed by the central government and is going to play a key role in the vaccine rollout plan. The details of the purchase, distribution, circulation, storage, and dose schedule of the vaccine will remain on the Covin app. According to the central government scheme, MBBS doctors, BDS doctors, staff nurses (B.Sc nursing), assistant nurses (GNM, ANM etc.), pharmacists, MBBS interns, and BDS interns will be trained to apply vaccine.

 

Covaxin trial from 2 December in Kolkata; Minister will get first shot

 

India's first indigenous corona vaccine - Phase-3 trials of covaxin will begin on December 2 at the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases (NICED) in Kolkata. State Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim (62) can get the vaccine as the first volunteer. Before this, they will be tested and they will be vaccinated on that basis. Hakim is also the Chief of Kolkata Metropolitan Corporation and has expressed his desire to get the vaccine first. Covaxin is developed by Hyderabad-based company Bharat Biotech in association with ICMR. 1,000 volunteers will be vaccinated in Kolkata. Two doses will be applied at a difference of four weeks.

 

Committee formed in Kerala under the leadership of T. Jacob John

 

Kerala Chief Minister P. Vijayan has formed a high-level committee under the leadership of virologist T. Jacob John on Monday. This committee will explore the possibilities of vaccine manufacturing in the state. Veteran virologist John has been associated with the governments of Kerala in establishing the Virology Institute and will see if the institute can also do manufacturing.

 

Moderna also asks for emergency approval after Pfizer

 

After American company Pfizer, Moderna has also sought emergency approval for its Covid-19 vaccine in the US and Europe. The company said that its vaccine in Phase-3 trials was 94.1% effective. No serious issues related to safety came up during this time. Moderna has also stated that the vaccine's affixation rate has been safe for everyone based on age, race, ethnicity, and gender. It has a 100% success rate in saving a serious case against Covid-19. The company's chief executive Stephen Bancel said in an interview that if the vaccine is approved and all is well, its first dose can be given by December 21.

 

Bristol football stadium to become a vaccination center in Britain

 

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said that the Oxford University / AstraZeneca vaccine will be ready in a few weeks. After this, the military has started preparations to make Bristol Football Stadium a vaccination center. The stadium will be used as soon as the vaccine is approved. There are plans to vaccinate one lakh people here. Johnson visited the manufacturing unit of the vaccine in Wrexham on Monday. 35 crore doses are to be made here in the next 12 months. Johnson also visited the Wockhardt factory of the Indian company CP Pharmaceuticals. During this, he said that the vaccine will be available in a few weeks.
