President Droupadi Murmu: President Murmu inaugurated the warship INS Vindhyagiri, the strength of the Navy will increase

President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday inaugurated the modern warship INS Vindhyagiri (P17A). President Murmu inaugurated the warship at the premises of 'Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineering Limited' located on the banks of the Hooghly River. During this, West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee were also present. Explain that this is the sixth ship out of seven ships to be built under 'Project 17 Alpha' of the Indian Navy. With the induction of this state-of-the-art warship, there will be a significant increase in the strength of the Navy.

 

Indigenous companies made up 75 percent parts of the warship

Five warships built under this project were launched between 2019 and 2022. Under this project, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineering Limited were to build three warships and this INS Vindhyagiri is the third warship. The remaining four warships are being built by Mazagon Dock Limited in Maharashtra. Officials said that 75 percent of the parts of this warship have been made by indigenous companies and medium-sized companies ie MSME companies. Several trials will be done before it is inducted into the Navy.

 

 

These are the characteristics of the battleship

The P17A frigate is a guided missile frigate, which is 149 meters in length. Its weight is about 6670 tonnes and it can run at a speed of 28 knots. This warship is capable of meeting the challenges of air, land, and water. The Project 17A ship has been designed by the Warship Design Bureau of the Indian Air Force.

 

Earlier on his visit to Kolkata, President Murmu launched the Mera Bengal, Nasha Mukt Bengal campaign. This campaign has been started under the drug-free India campaign. This program was organized by the Brahmakumaris at the Raj Bhavan. This is Droupadi Murmu's second visit to West Bengal after becoming the President. Earlier, Murmu had come on a state tour in March.
