New Delhi, Jan 18 (IANS) India Sunday said that the process relating to visas of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) staff was underway.
External affairs ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said that the issues relating to visas of the PIA staff were part of the normal routine and the process was underway.
Last week, the Enforcement Directorate has issued summons to PIA in connection with alleged violation of forex laws in the purchase of properties in Delhi.
According to reports, the ED had found that the Pakistani national carrier had acquired five flats/offices in Delhi without obtaining necessary clearances from the Reserve Bank of India.
Indian laws state that no national of Pakistan among some other countries can acquire or transfer immovable property in India other than lease, not exceeding five years without prior permission of the RBI.
Three PIA executives were called for questioning over the alleged illegal purchase and notice issued to PIA to shut down the properties in New Delhi.
The MEA spokesperson also said that the ministry had not yet been approached over the issue.
