Filmmaker and writer Alankrita Srivastava, who has made films and web series like 'Lipstick Under My Burkha', 'Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare', 'Bombay Begums', 'Made in Heaven,' and 'Modern Love Mumbai', to make another film are ready. This time she is going to produce a film on the late Pakistani social media star Qandeel Baloch. Alankrita Srivastava, co-producers Vikas Sharma, and Sunny Khanna have acquired the rights to the book 'The Sensational Life and Death of Qandeel Baloch' published by Aleph.
Alankrita Srivastava says- 'When Qandeel Baloch was murdered in Pakistan in 2016, I was shaken. It was an honor killing. I couldn't stop thinking about him. I started watching Qandeel's videos over and over and I was fascinated. She was very attractive and feminine. She was a poor girl from a small village who worked just to be famous. She was only 26 when she was murdered, and ironically it was only after her death that Qandeel was recognized as a feminist.'
Alankrita Srivastava said, this film will further her sensational and astonishing fame. Let us inform you that producer Vikas Sharma has produced films like 'Qarib Qarib Single' and 'Dobaara'. He said that Qandeel Baloch's story deserves to be told by the right filmmaker and he is happy to collaborate with Srivastava for the upcoming feature.
Qandeel Baloch's brother Mohammad Wasim had strangled her to death in 2016 at the age of 26. Let us tell you that Baloch was known for expressing her open views against the patriarchal society in her social media posts. Qandeel's brother was very angry with his attitude. After killing his sister, he confessed that he had killed Qandeel and he was not sorry for it.
