The decision to cancel the exam was taken after receiving indications of irregularities from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analysis Unit of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The controversy over the Medical Entrance Examination (NEET) result has not yet cooled down and the Ministry of Education has announced the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam as well. The Ministry of Education said that the UGC-NET exam will be conducted afresh. According to the government, the investigation of the matter of irregularities in the examination is being handed over to the CBI.
According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Education, NTA conducted the UGC-NET examination on June 18, 2024, in two phases in OMR (pen and paper) mode in various cities of the country. On June 19, i.e. today, UGC received some inputs from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analysis Unit of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs for the examination. This information prima facie indicated that the integrity of the examination may have been compromised.

A fresh examination will be conducted. For which information will be shared separately. Along with this, the cases are being handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for in-depth investigation of the matter.

Supreme Court notice to NTA on alleged irregularities in NEET exam
The Supreme Court on Tuesday heard a petition filed regarding alleged irregularities in the NEET exam. During this, the court asked many sharp questions to the National Testing Agency (NTA). The court said that if there is even 0.001 percent negligence in the NEET exam, then it should be dealt with.
With this, the Supreme Court has issued a notice to the NTA and the Central Government and asked to file a reply in this matter. Talking about the hard work put in by the students for this medical exam, the Supreme Court said that this petition should not be viewed in an adversarial spirit.
