Rahul Gandhi's claim

The Congress party is doing satyagraha in support of Baba Saheb and the Constitution across the country. During this, the death of our Congress workers Mridul Islam in Guwahati and Prabhat Pandey in Lucknow due to excessive police force is very sad and condemnable. He further said I express my deepest condolences to their bereaved families. These families deserve full justice. The lions of Congress will continue to fight for the truth and the Constitution."
Violence during Congress protest
The Congress was protesting in Guwahati over several issues, including the Manipur violence and bribery allegations against Gautam Adani. A scuffle broke out between police and Congress supporters in which Assam Congress chief Bhupen Kumar Bora and former Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora also fell and got injured, they were detained and later released.
Congress spokesperson Bedabrata's claim
Congress spokesperson Bedabrata Bora claimed that Congress legal cell member Mridul Islam felt suffocated due to tear gas shells. He was rushed to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) where he was declared dead. However, a senior police officer said the exact cause of death would be known only after the post-mortem report comes.
