Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will arrive in Delhi on Monday (August 18) for a two-day visit, holding a key bilateral meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. This visit gains further significance in the backdrop of growing tensions in India-US relations, particularly after Donald Trump doubled the tariff on Indian goods to 50 percent. What is the significance of Wang Yi's visit? During Wang Yi's visit, India and China may discuss possible measures related to peace and stability on the disputed border. The visit comes before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to China later this month. The Chinese Foreign Minister's visit is regarded as part of ongoing interactions between the two countries after their relations faced challenges following the Galwan Valley clash in 2020. Will also meet Ajit Doval
Wang Yi will primarily visit India to hold a new round of Special Representative (SR) talks on the border issue with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Wang and Doval are the designated Special Representatives for border talks.
