VK Mathews recalled some memories related to Ratan Tata. He expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the Honorary Chairman of Tata Sons and Chairman of Tata Trust. Mathews says that I liked his humility the most. His sense of humor used to lighten the atmosphere of the room in serious moments. This made him look even more lovable.
Had breakfast in the hotel without revealing his identity
Matthews mentioned two incidents during his US visit. When he got a chance to spend some time with Ratan Tata. Mathews said that one morning in New York we were having breakfast with Ratan Tata in his hotel. During this time he did not reveal his identity to the hotel staff. Mathews says that this was a small but clear sign of his humility.
He paid the bill with his credit card.
Matthews shared another anecdote related to Ratan Tata's simplicity. Mathews said that he met Ratan Tata in another restaurant in New York. I was surprised that he paid the bill with his credit card. He also checked his bill before paying. This very simple thing says a lot about his nature.

Matthews said that the death of a charismatic businessman is a great loss for the business world and the nation. Remembering Ratan Tata, Mathews said that in the restaurant he jokingly asked me whether I am following you or you are following me.
