Kolkata, April 2 (IANS) Dissident Trinamool Congress MP Kabir Suman Wednesday said he would campaign for Congress candidate Somen Mitra for the Lok Sabha polls.
Suman said he may also opt to canvass for painter and Congress candidate for Jadavpur constituency Samir Aich, who met him during the day.
"But nobody should see any political bias in this. I will campaign for Mitra, as I know him for long. I may also campaign for Aich, as I also know him well," said Suman.
The 64-year-old singer turned politician, who has sung duets with the likes of music legend late Pete Seeger, said he may even consider canvassing for Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) candidate from Joynagar, Tarun Mondal, if he so desires.
Suman, who defeated sitting MP Sujan Chakraborty of the Communist Party of India-Marxist, from Jadavpur in 2009, later fell out with Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee after he brought in allegations of corruption against some party leaders.
Suman has also composed several songs and parodies criticising various steps of the Mamata Banerjee government, and even sang paeans to Maoist leader Kishanji who was killed by police after the Trinamool came to power.
The Trinamool has not renominated Suman as a candidate for the upcoming polls.
