There was a huge uproar in the Rajya Sabha on Friday (13 December 2024) over the no-confidence motion against the Chairman. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge accused Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar of not running the House as per the rules, to which the Vice President responded. Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, while responding to the Congress, said, "You people feel pained that how a farmer's son is sitting on this chair. I will give my life for the country, but will not bow down."

I am a laborer's son - Kharge's reply to the Chairman.

On this, Congress leader Kharge said that if you are a farmer's son, then I am a laborer's son. Accusing the Chairman of bias, he said, "You are giving BJP MPs a chance to speak, while not to Congress. We have not come here to hear your praise."

Congress MP Kharge said, "It is the responsibility of the Chairman to run the House. The Chairman insults the opposition MPs. The Chairman who is not respecting me, how can I respect you? You are insulting me."

Opposition entitled to bring motion against me - Chairman

On the no-confidence motion, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said that the opposition parties said that you should talk to me. He said, "I am personally saddened that the main opposition party has presented it as a complaint against the Chairman. They are entitled to bring a motion against me, but this is a deviation from the constitutional provisions. Every day complaints keep coming against the Chairman."

Chairman Dhankhar said, "The opposition has torn the Constitution to shreds. I will stand by my oath. I appeal to you in the name of the Constitution. Talk to me in my chamber. There is also a request to the leader of the House. We will work together. I have not lacked in giving respect."
