On November 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Zydus Biotech Park in Ahmedabad to inquire about the research and development of the Corona vaccine. Since then, the world has been eyeing Zydc's Zycov-D vaccine. Dainik Bhaskar inquired about all these things from Zayed, how the vaccine is being prepared at the Zydus Research Center in Changodar near Ahmedabad, and under what circumstances the scientists are preparing it.

What kind of start?

The name of this Gujarat-based pharma company Zydus is famous in vaccine development. The company has developed vaccines for life-threatening diseases such as swine flu, hepatitis B, and rubella. After the World Health Organization (WHO) declared corona as an epidemic, Zydus began to develop its vaccine.

Under the leadership of Chairman Pankaj Patel and MD Sherville Patel, the company focused on 3 points.

Use of latest and world-class technology at all levels ranging from vaccine making formula, technology and equipment.

How should the cost of the vaccine be minimized so that it is available at an affordable price and reaches all the people?

Vaccine Storage and transportation should be following India's environment.

After this, the process of government approval started. Zydus held discussions with several government-private entities including the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) under the Ministry of Science.

After this, the formula of the vaccine was decided. The experience of making a vaccine came in handy. Started making vaccines in February.

Why everyone's eye on 'Gujarati Vaccine'?

From the very beginning of vaccine development, Zydus focused on price and especially storage-transportation, besides its impact.

The ZyCov-D vaccine can be effective for up to 3 months even in 30-degree temperatures. When stored at a temperature of 2 to 8 degrees, it can be stored for more than 3 months.

The biggest advantage of being prepared according to the climate (weather) of India is that it can be easily transported anywhere across the country.

Hard work of scientists

- Around 1400 scientists are preparing this vaccine of Zydus. The team of 300 scientists has been working day and night for 10 months. Leaving the family and family worried, this team is giving full time to Bio Park itself. The objective is that the vaccine reaches the people as soon as possible.

- This vaccine being made in Gujarat is the first DNA-based Corona vaccine in India.

What is the vaccine formula?

- A vaccine requires a medium to establish virus DNA. It is through this that the use of DNA, harmless to the human body, is used.

- DNA of bacteria is called plasmid. That is why this vaccine is DNA-plasmid-based.

The DNA of the coronavirus has been planted by breaking the plasmid's DNA.

- This plasmid will produce immunity after reaching the body.

- The vaccine is undergoing many complex experiments at the laboratory. Much caution is being taken for this.
