Like the coronavirus, now there is a change in the risks associated with it. Not only in India but many countries of the world, there is an increased risk of neurological and psychiatric-related diseases in corona-infected patients, including psychosis, dementia, brain fog, etc. A review of the medical documentation of more than 1.2 million corona patients has revealed that patients are at increased risk of neurological and psychiatric diseases after infection compared to other respiratory diseases.
The study, published in The Lancet journal, also found that the incidence of depression and anxiety in adults increased significantly and was seen in patients for at least two months. According to the study, ever since the coronavirus pandemic began, there is increasing evidence that survivors may be at increased risk of neurological and psychiatric conditions.
Professor Harrison Paul, from the University of Oxford, UK, said that neurological and psychiatric risks can last for at least two years in many patients. It is also learned that new cases of neurological conditions associated with corona infection are expected to occur for a long time after the epidemic subsides.
A total of 12,84,437 patients' medical documents were included during the study. This included 185,748 children and 856,588 adults between the ages of 18 and 64.
