A doubleheader was played in IPL 2025 on Sunday. In the first match, Punjab Kings won by 10 runs in a thrilling match against Rajasthan Royals. With this win, Punjab has strengthened its claim to qualify for the playoffs. Captain Shreyas Iyer looked very happy after Punjab's victory. He said that this has proven that no matter what the situation, his team is capable of registering a win. At the same time, Rajasthan coach Rahul Dravid said that the youth of his team will learn from this season. At the same time, in the second match of the doubleheader on Sunday, Gujarat Titans defeated Delhi Capitals and confirmed their place in the playoffs.
Shreyas said that the team displayed the right mindset.
Shreyas is happy that his team displayed the right mindset despite the pressure being put by Rajasthan's aggressive batsmen. Punjab Kings scored 219 for five, but Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 76 runs in just 4.5 overs. But Harpreet Brar created an opportunity for Punjab Kings by dismissing both the openers. After the match, Iyer said, 'The players were enthusiastic. We showed that whatever the situation, we want to win.'
Shreyas suffered a finger injury, the severity is not known.
He said, 'When the opposition team plays well, it affects the body language. Brar has been performing well in the nets. He performed well in this match. His mindset was tremendous throughout. His approach and attitude were excellent.' The Punjab Kings captain revealed that he has suffered a finger injury, but does not know how serious this injury is. He said, 'Don't know what has happened. I got hit by a ball during practice. Will have to get it checked.'
Samson is unhappy with not being able to maintain the rhythm of the power play
At the same time, home team captain Sanju Samson regretted that he could not maintain the rhythm of the powerplay. Samson said, 'It was possible looking at the wicket and outfield. With our batting order and power-hitters, we felt this target was achievable. We just have to get our job done and finish the innings.'
'Hopefully, the young Indian batsmen will perform better.'
Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid hopes that the young Indian players of the Rajasthan Royals will soon get a chance to play international cricket, which will help them make a strong comeback for the next season. Dravid said in the post-match press conference, 'We have a lot of young, good Indian batsmen. Even today, the way Jaiswal, Vaibhav, Dhruv Jurel batted. Looking at the strength shown by Sanju, Riyan, they will be even better in a year.'
Dravid gave this statement about Vaibhav and Parag.
Dravid again told how the young players of the Royals can perform better after a year. He said, 'Vaibhav Suryavanshi will play a lot of cricket like in India Under-19. Riyan Parag will also play a lot of cricket. So I think all these players will play a lot of cricket for India throughout the year which will be tough cricket, international cricket.'
'Rajasthan players could not give the finishing touch this season'
Dravid said, 'So hopefully when they come back here next year, they will be more experienced. These are very talented players.' Dravid felt that Rajasthan's bowlers and batsmen could not give the finishing touch in the match, due to which the team's performance was poor this season. He said, 'We have come close but could not complete the job. This has been one of those seasons where you always feel that we gave 15-20 runs extra with the ball, and after getting into a good position with the bat, we could not perform well with the lower middle order and could not hit the big shots that we needed.'
