Russia-Ukraine War Updates: EU agrees to cut oil imports from Russia by two-thirds; Russia to stop gas supply to the Netherlands

96 days have passed since the Russo-Ukraine war. Meanwhile, the European Union (EU) has agreed to cut oil imports from Russia by two-thirds. European Council President Charles Michel said the EU has reached an agreement to ban two-thirds of Russian oil imports. This decision will put pressure on Russia to end the war.

 

At the same time, Russia has decided to stop the gas supply to the Netherlands. Netherlands' government-backed company Gastera refused to pay Russia's Gazprom in rubles, after which gas supplies will be suspended from Tuesday. The Netherlands' energy is based on 44% gas. However, this country imports only 15% of its gas requirement from Russia.

US President Joe Biden has said that the US will not send long-range rocket systems to Ukraine. Biden's statement came after the US discussed sending rocket systems to Russia.

 

French journalist killed in Russian attack in Luhansk

 

A French journalist has been killed in a Russian attack during an evacuation in Ukraine's eastern Luhansk region. French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday that Friedrich Leclerc-Imhoff was in Ukraine to show the reality of the war.

 

To avoid a Russian bomb attack, a bus carrying people was going outside the city, and he was on board. He died during this attack. Imhoff was 32 years old, he was working for the BFM TV news channel.
