Haryana Education Minister Kanwarpal Gurjar has said that even though the lockdown waiver starts in the state in a phased manner after May 3, the schools and colleges will not open for a month or more. He said that in the first week of June, a decision in this regard can be taken after consultation with experts. Talking to reporters in Chandigarh on Wednesday, the Education Minister said that at present there are no plans to open schools, colleges and other educational institutions. He said that social distancing is the biggest problem in the field of education, so a decision will be taken only after consulting the experts of the concerned departments. He informed that currently students are being taught online through the TV channels of Edusat. Efforts are being made to get students to complete their syllabus as soon as they sit at home.
Gurjar said that if there is no improvement in the situation and new education session starts from the month of July, then this deficiency will be overcome by applying one extra day class everyday. He said that according to the guidelines issued by the Central Government, now the result of class X examination will be based on the average. Due to this, the results of class X will be declared by the Haryana School Education Board by May 20. After the result is declared on the basis of average, students can enroll provisionally in the next classes.
There will not be holidays throughout the year
Education Minister said that one month syllabus will be covered through Edusat. After this, the next decision will be taken. The Education Minister said that on an average, 234 periods are spent in schools in a year. If classes begin from June 1, summer and winter holidays will be cut. The second and fourth Saturdays of the month will also be closed, to compensate for the days of lockdown.
No decision on waiver of fees
On the controversy over school fees in the state, Gurjar said, the government has not yet taken any decision on waiving the fees. Private schools in the state are paying salaries to their staff. The society should also cooperate in this, so that the system of schools should also be maintained. The staff present there should support everyone, who should be able to get salary, they should pay fees.
12th paper check
Kanwarpal Gurjar said that no decision has been taken regarding the 12th classes. Education Minister informed that checks of 12th papers are being done. He said that this issue has been raised by the Center before Haryana. There will be no exams for colleges and universities. Central government guidelines are awaiting in this regard.
