Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is facing criticism from his own party leaders, has hit back and has called the criticizing leaders over-enthusiastic. This statement of Shashi Tharoor has come after the statement of Congress leader Udit Raj, in which Udit Raj had objected to a statement made by Shashi Tharoor abroad and called him a super spokesperson of BJP. Shashi Tharoor is currently leading one of the seven all-party delegations of India on foreign tours.
How the whole controversy started
Shashi Tharoor said in a speech on the Panama tour with the all-party delegation that 'The Indian government has changed its thinking in recent years. After which the terrorists have also realized that they will have to pay the price for attacking India.' Referring to the surgical strike and Balakot strike, Tharoor said 'For the first time India crossed the LoC during the surgical strike and attacked terrorist hideouts. Even in the Kargil war, we did not cross the border. This time we have not only crossed the border but also the international border. We targeted nine terrorist hideouts in Punjab located in the middle of Pakistan.'
Congress leader Udit Raj raised questions about Tharoor.
On this comment of Tharoor, his own party leader Udit Raj said that 'Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has become the super spokesperson of BJP. What BJP leaders are not saying, Shashi Tharoor is saying about PM Modi and the government. Does he (Tharoor) even know what the previous governments did? They (Central Government) are taking credit for the Indian Armed Forces. Shashi Tharoor has become the spokesperson of the propaganda department of BJP.'
Udit Raj said that 'How can you belittle the golden history of Congress by saying that before PM Modi, India never crossed the LoC. In the 1965 war, the Indian army had reached Lahore. In the year 1971, during the time of Congress, Pakistan was divided into two parts. Also, many surgical strikes were carried out during the tenure of the UPA government, but they were not publicised. How can you be so dishonest towards the party which gave you so much.' Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh and senior leader Pawan Khera also posted Udit Raj's statements on social media.
Now Tharoor shows the mirror.
Shashi Tharoor, who came under criticism from Congress leaders, has also hit back. In a post shared on social media from Panama, he said 'After a long and successful day in Panama, I have to leave for Colombia at midnight. So I don't have time for all this, but those overenthusiastic people who are criticizing his statement, let me tell them that I was only talking about retaliation against terrorist attacks and not about past wars. I told them that in the past while responding to terrorist attacks, we had kept in mind the LOC and the international border, but this thinking has changed in recent years. But as always the trolls and my critics will twist my words, but I have better things to do. Good night.
