New Delhi, Jan 31 (IANS) An 18-year-old suspected criminal was shot dead and his accomplice injured in a shootout in Delhi late Saturday evening, police said. Two policemen were injured in the incident.
A police official said a police team raided a house in Sadar Bazar area in north Delhi around 6 p.m on a secret tip-off about presence of a wanted criminal there.
As police burst in the house, the occupants stared pelting stones at them and also opened fire. Police retaliated, gunning down a youth identified as Deepak and injuring Dharmedra.
Two policemen - Sub Inspector Nisar Khan and constable Ravi Kant - were injured.
Dharmendra and both the policemen have been admitted to a government hospital where their condition is stated to be critical.
Police said the team had raided the house in search of Nathu, who was booked for various cases of robbery and theft.
