Bahraich Violence: Arson and vandalism in hospital and showroom, havoc created in many shops and houses; people came out with sticks

The uproar during Durga idol immersion in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh has taken a big form. Arson and vandalism took place once again in Bahraich on Monday morning. Many shops and houses were vandalized. Bike showrooms and a hospital have been set on fire. Vehicles have been set on fire. Medicines have been burnt.

 

The anger sparked by the death of the youth is not subsiding. The protest is becoming more violent. Bike showrooms have been set on fire. Cars have also been burnt. People have taken to the streets with sticks. On the other hand, the family has refused to cremate the body. Although the police have explained to the family of the deceased. But the matter has not been resolved yet. The family is adamant about demanding strict action.

According to news agency ANI, people of a community got enraged after the murder of Ram Gopal Mishra on Monday morning. The crowd took to the streets with sticks and lathis in their hands. Arson and vandalism have been done in bike showrooms and a hospital. Apart from the hospital, shops and vehicles have also been set on fire. UP CM Yogi has given instructions to deal with the rioters strictly. Along with this, a report has been sought on the latest situation. Strict action has also been taken against those who spread rumors. CM Yogi has asked to arrest the murder accused soon.

 

Earlier, the post-mortem of Ram Gopal Mishra, who lost his life in Bahraich communal violence, was completed at seven in the morning. After this, the body was sent to his house. There is tension in the area after this incident. Private schools in Maharajganj and Mahsi area were closed.

 

25 arrested including the main accused Salman

 

FIR was filed late at night against many people including main accused Salman in communal violence in Bahraich. According to sources, there are reports of 20 to 25 people being taken into custody. On the other hand, the Puja Committee remained adamant till late at night that the accused should be arrested. Slogans of hanging the accused kept echoing on the streets late at night.

 

What is the whole matter?

 

After a dispute over singing in Maharajganj town of Mahsi tehsil in Bahraich, youths of other communities started pelting stones. When the members of the Puja committee started protesting after the Durga idol was broken, people from the other community dragged Ram Gopal Mishra (24) inside the house and shot him. Rajan (28), who came to save him, was also seriously injured.

 

Protests against the incident started in the entire district. People from the immersion committee started protesting by blocking the Bahraich-Sitapur highway near the Chahalari Ghat bridge. The Bahraich-Lucknow highway was also blocked.

 

Idol immersion was stopped at hundreds of places in the city. Seeing the matter escalating, police and PAC from six police stations were deployed. At the same time, the situation is under control in Gonda and Balrampur. According to eyewitnesses, the idol of Mahsi tehsil was being taken for immersion on Sunday evening.

 

On reaching Maharajganj town, town resident Sonar Abdul Hameed reached the spot with his sons Sabloo, Sarfaraz, and Faheem and started abusing them. When the people accompanying the idol protested against this, stone pelting started from the roofs. When the committee members started protesting, Hamid and thousands of people present with him reached the spot and started creating a ruckus. On receiving the information, a heavy police force reached the spot.

 

The Puja committee members allege that the SO was not present on the spot. When the protest started, the police lathi-charged the people involved in the immersion, which led to a stampede and people of the other community took away Ram Gopal. Bahraich SP Vrinda Shukla and other top officials are camping in Maharajganj. The entire town has been sealed.

 

DGP Prashant Kumar said that ADG Zone Gorakhpur KS Pratap Kumar and DIG Range Devipatan Amarendra Pratap Singh have been sent to control the situation.

According to eyewitnesses, the idol of Mahsi tehsil was going for immersion peacefully. On reaching Maharajganj town, town resident Sonar Abdul Hameed reached the spot with his sons Sabloo, Sarfaraz, and Faheem and started abusing. When the people accompanying the idol protested against this, they started pelting stones from the roofs. After this, the Visarjan Rok Samiti members started protesting. It is alleged that during this time Hameed and the crowd of thousands present with him reached the spot and started creating a ruckus.
