Indian badminton star PV Sindhu has reached the final of the Singapore Open. She defeated Saina Kawakami of Japan 21-15, 21-7 in the semi-final match. Kawakami was ranked below Sindhu and her chances of winning this match were high. The same thing happened in the end and Sindhu registered a resounding victory. Kawakami, ranked 38th in the world rankings against Sindhu, was initially not seen in the match. Sindhu also made mistakes in the beginning but came back later to take a three-point lead till the break. After this, the Japanese players also returned to the rhythm and there was a fight between the two for one point each. Eventually, Sindhu took an 18-14 lead and won the first game easily.
Kawakami's struggle continued in the second game as she went down 0-5. Sindhu then took an 11-4 and 11-5 lead. In the end, Sindhu easily won the second set and made it to the final.
