Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Sunday attacked the Congress government of Karnataka over the Dharmasthala controversy. He termed it a 'sponsored attack on the Hindu faith'. Joshi alleged in a post on Instagram that the incident around the famous Dharmasthala temple was deliberately exaggerated to tarnish the image of the temple.
He wrote, The Dharmasthala case has been exposed as a sponsored attack on the Hindu faith. The Congress government jumped into the matter and made full use of its toolkit to defame the ancient Hindu temple. Joshi alleged that the state government allowed the allegations to dominate the discussion without checking their veracity. The government allowed it to grow without any basic investigation.
Asked to fix the responsibility
He said that from masked persons to fully funded YouTubers, unverified claims were made, and an ancient temple was made a media spectacle for 15 days. The dignity of the temple was hurt through unverified claims, masked people, and YouTubers. Congress acted negligently in this matter. He raised the question of whether this entire controversy was created at someone's behest, and why the government did not take action in time. How will the responsibility of those who run and fund this "toolkit" be fixed?
He demanded a fair investigation and action against the culprits. The controversy started when complainant CN Chinnaiyah claimed that women were intimate abused in the Dharmasthala. Many bodies were buried in the Dharmasthala, including the bodies of women who were victims of intimate assault. However, the police arrested him on charges of giving false testimony. -
The YouTuber appeared before the police
YouTuber Sameer MD appeared before the police on Sunday in a case registered for broadcasting defamatory videos related to the Dharmasthala temple. Earlier, the police had pasted notices at his rented accommodation in Bengaluru and his house in Bellary, directing him to appear for questioning.
Sameer reached the police station with three lawyers and recorded his statement. Sameer had filed a petition for anticipatory bail in the Mangaluru court. On Thursday, the court granted him bail. Sameer had uploaded a video about the shrine, which went viral. After this, the police had registered a case on their own level.
