Violent protests continue in Sri Lanka. After the President, now the PM's residence has also been occupied by the protesters. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is also going to resign on Wednesday amid the ongoing ruckus in the country. The Speaker has informed us that the next Presidential election in the country will be held on July 20. At the same time, the most impact of the political and economic crisis seems to be on the medical system. It has come to such an extent that doctors are advising patients not to get sick. Essential medicines and other supplies have been affected significantly in the country.

 

At present, the country's command is in the hands of caretaker President Ranil Wickremesinghe. He has declared an emergency in the country. Curfew has been imposed in West Sri Lanka. Amidst the uproar, the country's official channel SLRC has also stopped live telecasts.

 

Sri Lanka is also reeling under money to pay for basic things like fuel and food. Meanwhile, there are also reports of a shortage of medicines. Some doctors are turning to social media to raise more donations and funds. Along with this, he has appealed to the people of Sri Lanka living outside the country for help.

Her family is now dependent on donors, as the hospital can no longer provide free medicines to Haasini. Hasini's elder sister Ishaar Thilini says, 'We have been told that they do not know that now this medicine will be available again for less.'

 

Cancer hospitals are also grappling with a shortage of essential medicines. Dr. Samath Dharmaratne, president of the Sri Lanka Medical Association, said, "Don't get sick, don't get injured, don't do anything that will require you to come to the hospital for treatment."

 

A new President will be founded on July 20

 

President Gotabaya has decided to resign today. According to Speaker Abhaywardene, Gotabaya has informed that he will send his resignation by late evening today. He told that by July 20, the new President of the country will be elected in Parliament. Wickremesinghe has been made the caretaker president amid the deteriorating situation in the country.

Talking to news agency ANI, the former advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka told that people want to see both the PM and the President out of the government. He said, 'We want the PM to resign, because according to our constitution if the President resigns, the PM will become the caretaker President. People want both to leave. The police acted with tear gas shells.

 

Government channels stopped the live broadcast

 

The official news channel Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC), known as Jatik Rupavahini, has stopped live telecasts. It is reported that the protesters had surrounded the channel premises. After this, the decision has been taken.

 

What is the current situation of the country?

 

Citizens were furious after President Gotabaya fled the country. At the same time, after this, when Prime Minister Wickremesinghe was made the caretaker President, the protesters became more violent. An angry mob had surrounded the PM's residence in Colombo. Police and security forces had to use tear gas shells to control the situation. At present, the protesters have reached the PM's residence, breaking the security cordon.
