Afghanistan New Government: The Taliban on Tuesday released a list of deputy ministers, which does not include the name of any woman. Even during the selection of ministers earlier this month, no woman was included in the cabinet. It was widely criticized internationally. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid presented the list at a news conference in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan.
The list of deputy ministers indicates that the Taliban are unaffected by international criticism and continue on their hardline path despite early promises of inclusivity and upholding women's rights.
The Taliban have designed their current cabinet as an interim government, suggesting that change is still possible. However, he did not clarify whether elections would ever be held or not. Responding to a question, Mujahid said the cabinet would be expanded, including members of ethnic minorities like Hazaras, and women could be included later.
The Taliban announced their interim government for Afghanistan on 7 September. Some time ago there was a warning from the international community that the Taliban's work and its treatment of women were going to play a big role in the coming days. It was also said at that time that its decision would have an impact on the condition of minorities and women in Afghanistan. However, the list of deputy ministers indicates that international criticism has did not affect the Taliban.
