Team India capture the series: won the fourth consecutive T20 series against West Indies, defeated by 8 runs in the second match

In the second T20 match, Team India defeated West Indies by 8 runs. There was a target of 187 runs in front of the Windies, but the team could only score 178 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 3 wickets and lost the match. With the win, Team India has also captured the T20 series. India won the fourth consecutive T20 series against West Indies.

 

Earlier, Team India scored 186/6 after losing the toss and playing first. Rishabh Pant remained the top scorer with 52 not out, while Virat Kohli also scored 52 runs. Roston Chase got a maximum of 3 wickets from the Windies side.

 

India hasn't lost a series against West Indies since 2017

 

India has captured the fourth consecutive T20 series against West Indies. West Indies last defeated Team India 1-0 in a T20I series on Indian soil in 2017. After this, the Windies could never win the T20 series against India. The last match of the current series between the two teams will be played on February 20.

 

West Indies opener failed again

 

Chasing Tagore, Brandon King and Kyle Meyers put on 34 runs in 31 balls for the first wicket. Yuzvendra Chahal broke this partnership by dismissing Meyers (9). Ravi Bishnoi gave India the second breakthrough by dismissing Brandon (22). Brandon King is caught at long-on by Suryakumar Yadav.

 

After this, Team India had to wait a lot for the third wicket. Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell added 100 runs in 60 balls. This partnership was broken by Bhuvneshwar Kumar by dismissing Pooran (62). WI had to score 25 runs in the last over and Harshal Patel was on the bowling. Powell hit two consecutive sixes in the third and fourth balls, but could not win the team. Rovman Powell scored an unbeaten 68 off 36 balls, while Kieron Pollard remained unbeaten on 3 runs.

 

Kohli and Pant played a strong innings

 

Playing first after losing the toss, India started poorly and Ishan Kishan scored 2 runs on the last ball of the second over and gave his wicket to Sheldon Cottrell. After this, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli added 49 runs in 36 balls for the second wicket. Rohit (19) comes into the account of Roston Chase.

 

In his very next over, Chase gave the third breakthrough to WI by getting caught and bowled by Suryakumar Yadav (8). Former captain Virat Kohli looked in fine form and completed his fifty by hitting a six off 39 balls. Chase also put the brakes on Kohli's (52) innings. Venkatesh Iyer was dismissed after scoring 33 runs.

 

Iyer added 76 runs from 35 balls with Rishabh Pant for the 5th wicket. In the match, Rishabh Pant got the opportunity to bat at number 5 and he played an unbeaten inning of 52 runs in 28 balls, playing a brilliant inning.

 

Team India's 8th consecutive win

 

This is Team India's eighth consecutive win in T20 format. The world record for winning the most consecutive matches in T20 International is recorded in the name of Afghanistan (12). Apart from the Afghan team, associate team, Romania has also won 12 matches in a row. Afghanistan (11) also comes at number three and Uganda has won 11 consecutive T20 matches at number four.
