The opposition was constantly accusing Sunak that he was not adopting a strict policy regarding China. Instead of China, now Britain will increase relations with other countries in Asia-Pacific.

The Golden Era Policy regarding relations with China was formulated in the year 2015. Which was announced by the then UK Prime Minister David Cameron before Xi Jinping's UK visit. The purpose of this policy was to improve relations between Britain and China and strengthen trade.
