At present, Pakistan is surrounded by troubles. People living in many parts of the country including Sindh are facing severe heat. The temperature here has crossed 50 degrees Celsius. Along with this, the situation is getting worse due to the scarcity of water. There is neither drinking water nor water available for crops in the field. The Meteorological Department has told in its forecast that the same condition of heat will remain in June as well. If this situation continues, then this time the crop will not be good in the country and Khalid Baks, a farmer in South Sindh province of Pakistan, expressed his concern for food.
He has planted sugarcane and cotton crops in the field, which is on the verge of drying up due to a lack of water. “Last year also due to water scarcity the crop was not as good as expected. But this time the water crisis is much more. The canals are drying up, and we have no resources to water our crops. If the situation remains like this, the economic burden on the local farmers will increase.
Talking to Xinhua news agency, Manzoor Wassan, advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh said that almost most of the crops have been damaged due to water scarcity. He feared that it would get worse in the coming days. There are many crops in Sindh including mango, pepper, cotton, rice, wheat, and sugarcane, but this time due to water scarcity, farmers are facing a crisis.
