IND vs WI: KL Rahul is almost certain to be out from the T20 series, who will open with Rohit Sharma?

The five-match T20 International series between India and West Indies is to be played from July 29. Captain Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant were rested from the ODI series and both have joined the team, while KL Rahul's dismissal from this series is considered almost certain. Rahul was about to return to the field with this series after completing his rehab after surgery, but could not join Team India due to being Corona positive. There is no official update from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) yet regarding whether Rahul will play in this series.

According to the news of the Times of India, Rahul is almost certain to be out of the T20 series, but the BCCI is not in favor of including an opener in the team as his backup. In such a situation, the question arises that who will open the innings with captain Rohit? In such a situation, the team management can entrust the responsibility of opening the innings to Rishabh Pant or Ishan Kishan.

Pant had recently opened the innings with Rohit in the T20I series against England, but he could not show anything special. The T20 World Cup is to be played in Australia this year, in such a situation, the team management can give some more chances to Pant to start the innings with Rohit. At the same time, Team India also has an option in the form of Ishan Kishan to open the innings. Perhaps this is the reason why BCCI will not associate anyone with the team as a replacement for Rahul.
