India's intelligence agency RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) has been embroiled in controversies by going to Mauritius to peep into people's internet accounts. But do you know that government agencies are monitoring people's internet in India itself? Perhaps you have heard about it… but did you know that the US intelligence agency NSA also keeps an eye on your e-mail or WhatsApp chat?
In 2013, leaked documents from former NSA employee Edward Snowden revealed that the US monitors people's Internet traffic through fiber-optic taps around the world. The special thing is that according to a map leaked in these documents, America's intelligence agency collects more data from India and Pakistan than China. At that time it was revealed that India is at number 5 on America's monitoring list. America had taken 63 crores of intelligence information from India. But since then no government or opposition party has made it an issue. The reason…the government itself also keeps an eye on your data.
Who keeps an eye on your Instagram reel or Facebook posts? How does this happen and is it legal to do so? Know, the answer to all these questions of yours...
In 2015, Chinese telecom company Huawei received a contract to install surveillance systems in the capital of Mauritius. In this, the role of Sherry Singh, CEO of Mauritius Telecom Company and close to Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, was considered important. During the work on this project, Huawei also got a contract to lay 700 km of under-sea internet cabling to bring high-speed internet to Rodriguez, the second largest city in Mauritius. Doubts began to be raised that on this pretext, China could set up its telecommunication intelligence base in Mauritius. The biggest threat was to India's built Maritime Intelligence Base on Agalega Island.
There was a direct threat to India… Controversy over the disclosure of the presence of RAW
Last month, Mauritius Telecom CEO Sherry Singh resigned, saying the prime minister had ordered him to give Indian intelligence access to the submarine cable station on the island of Bei-du-Jacquet. Describing this as a threat to the sovereignty of the country, the opposition parties of Mauritius even demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister. Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth has openly said that he had sought help from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi because of doubts about China's intentions. Till now India has not given any official statement on this whole issue.
Now know, how is internet espionage and how old its history
