Train Accident: Relief work completed, operations will resume on the railway track by 4 pm

The death toll in the train accident in Vijayanagaram, Andhra Pradesh has reached 13 so far. East Coast Railway CPRO Biswajit Sahu said that relief and rescue operations have been completed. Now the focus is on resuming rail operations on the track. Arrangements for buses and trains have been made for the passengers stranded due to the accident. Due to the accident, a total of 18 trains have been canceled so far and the route of 22 trains has been changed. We are trying to resume the operation of trains on the affected routes by 4 p.m.

 

The accident is being investigated

Divisional Railway Manager of Waltair Division, Saurabh Prasad said that heavy machines and cranes have been called. The work is being done in coordination with the state government and fire department. When asked about the cause of the accident, Saurabh Prasad said that only once the investigation is completed, anything can be said about the cause of the accident. The Railway Minister has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of those killed in the accident, Rs 2.5 lakh for the seriously injured, and Rs 50 thousand for the moderately injured.

 

The Railway Minister reviewed the accident from the war room

Vijayanagaram SP said that so far seven of those killed in the train accident have been identified and efforts are also being made to identify other bodies. After the accident, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav reviewed the situation from the war room of Rail Bhawan in Delhi and held a meeting with top railway officials. The Railway Minister also spoke to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy over the phone.
