Lucknow, March 11 (IANS) In a major relief to farmers and their families whose crops were damaged in the recent rains and hailstorm, financial assistance of Rs.16.50 crore was sanctioned on Wednesday by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
The move follows a survey conducted by district officials of the crop damage.
With regard to the assessment conducted, Rs.50 lakh each has been sanctioned to Mahoba, Hamirpur and Kannauj, Rs.1 crore for Pilibhit, Rs.2 crore each for Banda and Jalaun, Rs.3.80 crore for Mirzapur and Rs.6.20 lakh for Chitrakoot, a government spokesman said.
