Vijay Hazare Trophy: Bengal's 'trio' proved to be a super hit, Jammu and Kashmir bowled out for their lowest score.

The Bengal trio of Mukesh Kumar (4/16), Akash Deep (4/32), and Mohammed Shami (2/14) bowled out Jammu and Kashmir for just 63 runs in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match on Wednesday.

 

 

In the match played at the Sanosara Cricket Ground A in Rajkot, Bengal won the toss and elected to bowl first. The pace bowling trio completely justified their captain's decision, and the Jammu and Kashmir innings folded for 63 runs in 20.4 overs.

 

 

Jammu and Kashmir's Lowest Score

This was Jammu and Kashmir's lowest team score in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.  However, in terms of the lowest team scores in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Jammu and Kashmir is ranked 16th.

 

 

The embarrassing record for the lowest team score in Vijay Hazare Trophy history belongs to Rajasthan. On November 11, 2014, the Rajasthan team was bowled out for just 35 runs against Railways.

Performance of the Bengal Bowlers

Bengal's fast bowlers dominated the match. Mohammed Shami dismissed openers Kamran Iqbal and Yawar Hassan. Shami took two wickets for 14 runs in 6 overs, including two maidens. Then Mukesh Kumar wreaked havoc.

 

 

The right-arm fast bowler dismissed Shubham Khajuria (12), Rhythm Sharma (7), Abid Mushtaq (2), and Aqib Nabi. Mukesh took... He took four wickets for 16 runs in 6 overs.

 

 

Bengal's easy win

Akash Deep also bowled brilliantly, taking four wickets. Akash Deep dismissed Murugan Ashwin, Paras Dogra (19), Abdul Samad (8), and Yudhvir Singh (7). He took four wickets for 32 runs in his 8.4-over spell, which included one maiden over.

 

 

Chasing an easy target of 64 runs, Bengal lost the wicket of captain Abhimanyu Easwaran (4). Aaqib Nabi dismissed the Bengal captain. After that, Abhishek Porel (30*) and Sudip Kumar Gharami (25*) completed the formalities for the win. Bengal earned 4 points from this victory.
