Indian women's cricket team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana will be aiming to set a major record before the end of 2025. The Indian opener has already scored 1703 runs this year, which is the record for the most runs scored by a female player in a single year.

 

 

Now, in the fifth T20I match against the Sri Lankan women's team, Smriti Mandhana will be looking to become the highest run-scorer of 2025 (in men's and women's international cricket). She will be aiming to surpass Shubman Gill and claim the title of the highest run-scorer this year.

Smriti Mandhana targets Gill's big record.

Smriti Mandhana (IND-W vs SL-W) has been prolific with the bat, playing in the top order for the Indian women's team. She has scored runs across different formats and contributed to several important victories for the team. The Indian women's cricket team is scheduled to play its final and fifth T20 match against Sri Lanka today. ​​India is already leading the series 4-0, but the team will be looking to win the last T20 match and complete a 5-0 clean sweep against Sri Lanka.

 

 

Mandhana recently achieved a major milestone during the fourth T20 match. She became the second Indian and overall fourth female player to score 10,000 international runs. She joined the ranks of Mithali Raj, Suzie Bates, and Charlotte Edwards in achieving this feat.

 

 

Smriti Mandhana is close to making history

If Smriti Mandhana scores 62 runs in today's fifth T20I match, she will become the highest run-scorer in 2025 (in men's and women's international cricket).

 

 

In this regard, she can surpass Shubman Gill, who has scored 1764 runs this year. In Test cricket, Mandhana has scored 629 runs in 7 matches, including two centuries and three half-centuries. In ODIs, he has scored 5322 runs in 117 matches, including 14 centuries and 34 half-centuries. In T20 Internationals, he holds the record for scoring 4102 runs in 157 matches.
