Fiji's President William Katonivere and India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar participated in the 12th World Hindi Conference at Nandi. During this, Jaishankar said that in events like World Hindi Conference, our focus is on various aspects of the Hindi language, its global use, and its promotion. We will discuss issues such as the status of Hindi in Fiji, the Pacific region, and the contracting countries.
Jaishankar said, “It is a matter of pleasure that we are inaugurating the 12th World Hindi Conference in Nandi. For this, I thank the Government of Fiji. It is also an opportunity to take forward our long-standing relationship.
The Foreign Minister said, “In events like the World Hindi Conference, it is natural that our focus should be on various aspects of the Hindi language, its global use and dissemination. We will discuss issues like the status of Hindi in Fiji, the Pacific region, and indentured countries, and the impact of IT, cinema, and literature on Hindi.
Addressing the conference, Jaishankar said, “Many of us are connected to the foreign environment and will continue to do so and may even settle down there. As such, it is important to focus on the identity and heritage of those who are distant from their native culture, and focusing on language is an effective way to emphasize these issues.
He said that the era is behind when progress was equated with westernization. Many such languages, and traditions, which were suppressed during the colonial era, are again raising their voice on the global stage. In such a situation, the world must know about all the cultures and societies.
During this, Union Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan said, “I congratulate the newly elected government of Fiji and thank them for hosting this conference in Fiji. I hope it will help to further strengthen the long-standing, historical, and deep-rooted ties between India and Fiji.
Muraleedharan said that the World Hindi Conference is being held in Fiji for the first time. It has been organized in Mauritius, Suriname, and Trinidad where the Indian community is in large numbers like in Fiji. Started in Nagpur in 1975, this conference has crossed 11 milestones.
The Union Minister of State for External Affairs said that the theme of this 12th World Hindi Conference is 'Hindi from Traditional Knowledge to Artificial Intelligence'. India has a rich heritage in science and technology. From astronomy to engineering and from medicine to mathematics, the whole world respects the contribution of our forefathers.
Fijian President William Katonivere said the forum presents a unique opportunity to celebrate the enduring strength of Fiji's historic and special relationship with India... When it comes to entertainment, Fijians prefer watching Bollywood movies. We do.
The World Hindi Conference is being organized in Nadi, Fiji from 15 to 17 February, co-hosted by the governments of India and Fiji. The first World Hindi Conference was organized in Nagpur in 1975. The main theme of this time's conference is 'Hindi-Traditional Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence'.
