Amidst the continuous statements against Hindi by Chief Minister MK Stalin in Tamil Nadu, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah made it clear that Indian languages should become a powerful medium to unite the country, not to divide it.
Addressing the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Official Language Department of the Home Ministry, Shah said that for any country to move forward on the basis of its consciousness and its culture, it is necessary for its administration to be conducted in the mother tongue.
'Hindi is the friend of Indian languages'
Amit Shah said that the purpose of establishing the Official Language Department was to run the country's governance in the language of the citizens and to awaken the self-respect of the country by using Indian languages in the administration. No country can keep its culture, literature, history, and social values alive without its language. To move forward with self-respect based on its culture, the country's governance should be in its languages.
He said that we have all completed this journey of 50 years together on the basis of struggle, sadhana, and determination. Amit Shah made it clear that Hindi cannot be opposed to any Indian language. It is the friend of all Indian languages. Only together with Hindi and Indian languages can we take our self-esteem program to its ultimate goal. He also assured help in running the administration of states and the Government of India based on Indian languages.
Education will be done in Indian languages.
Citing the efforts being made by the Modi government for the upliftment of Indian languages, he said that technical education has been started in 12 languages in the country. Madhya Pradesh has started medical education in Hindi, has prepared the entire syllabus and in the coming days other states will also prepare the entire syllabus of medical education in their languages and provide facilities to the children.
He appealed to all the states to provide engineering and medical education in the language of their state. According to Amit Shah, he said that language is not just a medium of communication but is the soul of the nation. Our roots, traditions, history, identity, and life culture cannot move forward without being separated from the language and it is very important to keep the languages alive and enrich them.
He said that in the coming days, we will have to make efforts for all Indian languages , especially the official language. Quoting the Pancha Pranab given by Prime Minister Modi, he said that freedom from the mentality of slavery is a very important pledge. Till the time a person does not take pride in his language and does not develop the ability to express, think, analyze, and make decisions in his language, we cannot be free from the mentality of slavery.
