The third phase of vaccination in the entire country, including Delhi, to protect the coronavirus is starting from today. Under this, vaccines will also be given to people between the ages of 45 and above at about 500 centers. Talking about Delhi, there are about 65 lakh people of this age group who will start getting vaccinated in the third phase.
According to the Health Department, about 25 to 30 percent of the population in Delhi will be given the vaccine at this stage. More than 3.6 lakh health workers and frontline workers were vaccinated in Delhi in the first phase starting from 16 January. After this, in the second phase, which started from March 1, the elderly aged 60 and above, in addition to those aged 45 to 59, were given the vaccine with Combinedness. Now in the third phase, the person whose age will be 45 years or more by January 1, 2022.
Vaccines will be given to registered beneficiaries at centers operated from 9 am to 9 pm from 3 pm. After this, non-registered persons can take the vaccine till 9 pm. They will just need to carry their Aadhaar card or any other valid identity proof. Officials said that on Thursday, on the first day of the third phase, 192 health facilities have been expanded, including 136 private hospitals in the capital.
Vaccines will be applied free of cost at government hospitals and health centers, while doses up to Rs 250 will be taken at private health facilities. Health Minister Satyendra Jain said that we have enough vaccines available. The number of eligible beneficiaries is quite large. We will try to complete the vaccination as soon as possible.
According to North Delhi DM Isha Khosla, Asha and Anganwadi workers have been trained, who will visit areas in their district, to encourage people to take up the vaccine. Appointments for vaccination can be booked through the Co-Win 2.0 portal. A mobile number cannot be used to register more than four. Officials said that those coming for vaccination in private hospitals would have to pay a fee of Rs 250 per dose, including Rs 100 per service fee.
220 ICU beds reserved in 33 hospitals.
Continued increase in coronavirus cases in the capital may impact medical services again. To provide timely treatment to infected patients, the government has started reserving beds in hospitals. On Wednesday, the Health Department reserved 220 ICU beds in 33 private hospitals for Corona patients.
Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that there are a total of 1900 ICU beds in these 33 hospitals, out of which there were 608 ICU beds till March 30, where the infected were undergoing treatment, but now the number has been increased to 838. At present, patients are admitted to 346 beds. Similarly, the number of beds in the Covid ward has also been increased from 1705 to 2547. According to the Health Department, these private hospitals comprise almost all the major hospitals in the capital.
According to government data, on Wednesday, 16 private hospitals in Delhi are already filled with ICU beds with ventilators for corona patients. Apart from this, 298 ventilators have been filled out of 787 including government and private hospitals. 393 ICU beds out of 1229 are also full. However, the Health Minister says that the situation is under control. Only 25 percent of beds have been reserved for the infected in government and private hospitals. In some private hospitals, all ICU beds are full.
Ventilator is not empty in many hospitals
According to the Delhi Corona website, 15 ICU beds at Agrasain International Hospital in Rohini, 6 at Jaipur Golden Hospital, 5 at Max SS Hospital in Shalimar Bagh, 5 at Fortis Hospital are not empty. Not even a single ventilator was empty until 4 pm on Wednesday at Venkateswara Hospital Dwarka, Indian Spinal Injury Center Vasant Kunj, and Maharaja Agrasen Hospital Punjabi Bagh. All ICU beds (without ventilators) are full at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in Sarita Vihar, 24 at Balaji Action Medical Hospital in Paschim Vihar, Maharaja Agrasen Hospital in Punjabi Bagh and Max Super Specialty Hospital in Shalimar Bagh.
