Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials on Monday questioned former West Bengal minister Paresh Adhikari in connection with the teacher recruitment scam. Agency sources said the officer was earlier questioned by the CBI in the same case. He reached the CGO premises of the ED office here in the morning to face questioning.

Accused of giving the job to their daughter

The former minister of state for education is being accused of adopting illegal means to get his daughter Ankita appointed as a teacher in a government school in the Cooch Behar district. The Calcutta High Court had earlier this year dismissed Ankita from her job and asked her to refund the salary she had received as a teacher since 2018. In August, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee removed the officer from her ministry during a cabinet reshuffle. Both the CBI and the ED are currently probing the multi-crore recruitment scam involving the West Bengal School Service Commission on an order of the Calcutta High Court.
