The entire North India including Delhi-NCR is facing the brunt of severe cold these days. Cold waves along with fog have increased the problems of the people. Trains and flights are also being affected due to low visibility. People will have to face severe colds for the next 2-3 days. The snowfall in the mountains has increased the chill in the plains. The cold air coming from there is also cooling the day temperature.
Yellow alert issued in Delhi
A yellow alert has been issued by the Regional Meteorological Department for Thursday. Snowfall in the mountains is increasing the chill in the capital. The mercury will drop on Thursday, during which the minimum temperature is likely to be 7 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature will be 17 degrees Celsius. The sky will be clear and there is a possibility of light to moderate fog in the morning.
According to the IMD at 5:30 am, there was very dense fog over Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, and Bihar, dense fog over Madhya Pradesh and Tripura, and moderate fog over Jammu division. On the other hand, at 5.30 am, 25 meters visibility was recorded in Bareilly, Lucknow 25 meters, 25 meters in Bahraich, 50 meters in Prayagraj, 50 meters in Varanasi, 200 meters in Gorakhpur, 200 meters in Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, 25 meters visibility was recorded in Chandigarh, 500 meters in Safdarjung, 700 meters in Palam, 25 meters in Bikaner of Rajasthan, 50 meters in Jaisalmer, 50 meters in Kota, 50 meters in Jaipur, 200 meters in Ajmer. Apart from this, 25 meters of visibility was recorded in Gaya, Bihar, 25 meters in Purnia, and 200 meters in Patna. Visibility was recorded at 50 meters in Sagar, 200 meters in Bhopal, 200 meters in Satna, 50 meters in Agartala, and 200 meters in Jammu in Madhya Pradesh.
Likely situation to remain like this for two to three days
Due to heavy snowfall on the peaks of Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh and cold winds coming from it, melting has increased in the entire North India. The Meteorological Department has predicted that the situation will remain similar for two to three days. It has been raining in some areas of Eastern Uttar Pradesh including Prayagraj and Varanasi since Wednesday morning and if North-West India gets hit by it, then the cold is sure to increase further.
