South Korea has claimed that its neighbor North Korea fired a total of 17 missiles one after the other on the east and west coasts on Wednesday. South Korea has been alerted after North Korea fired 17 missiles in a single day. South Korea says it has issued an air strike alert on the island after North Korea fired a missile.

South Korea also retaliated immediately by testing three air-to-surface missiles. Before these attacks, North Korea had criticized the US for expanding joint military exercises with South Korea. North Korea claims it is a rehearsal for a possible offensive and warned on Tuesday of more aggressive action in response.

A missile fell near Ulleung Island

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement that North Korea fired missiles from the eastern coast of Wonsan on Wednesday morning. In which a missile fell into international waters 167 kilometers (104 mi) northwest of Uleung Island in South Korea. After this, South Korea also issued an alert regarding the airstrike.

People living on the island were done underground

South Korean media have released pictures of people living on the island being taken to an underground shelter. The area where the missile landed is 26 kilometers (16 mi) from the eastern maritime boundary of the Korean peninsula. However, it is quite a distance from the international border. South Korea's military said that it was the first time since the creation of North and South Korea in 1948 that a missile has fallen so close to the sea border.

South Korea said - we will not tolerate

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a separate statement, "This is unacceptable and we will not tolerate it." At the same time, South Korea retaliated against it by testing three air-to-surface missiles.
