New Delhi, Feb 1 (IANS) The BJP Sunday asked Arvind Kejriwal why he was lying to the people on the electric tariff and water prices among the fourth set of five questions for the AAP chief.
BHaratiya Janata Party leader Nirmala Sitharaman asked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader to answer why he was lying to the people of Delhi by putting up hoardings comparing the lowest per unit rates of electricity bill in January 2014 with the highest in January 2015.
Similarly, she accused AAP of misleading the voters by claiming that in January 2014 (under AAP government), water was free in Delhi while in January 2015, the charges are Rs.13 per kilolitre for domestic consumers.
"In Delhi today, the charge for domestic consumers is only Rs.2.66 per kilolitre. Why is the AAP lying?" Sitharaman asked.
In its third question, the BJP asked Kejriwal to reveal his real designation while he was serving as an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer as contrary to official records which claim that he was deputy commissioner, he has repeatedly said that he was a commissioner or a joint commissioner.
The party also asked why he was never transferred out of Delhi.
Sitharaman further asked Kejriwal to explain what was the need of the "anarchic" agitation that he held in the heart of the city in Jan 2014 leading to chaos.
In its last question, the BJP asked Kejriwal why has he never gone back to Varanasi, the Lok Sabha constituency from where he was defeated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2014 general elections.
"Can Kejriwal tell us how many times he has gone to Varanasi after the May 2014 election," she asked.
The BJP plans to put five questions before Kejriwal everyday till Feb 5 in the run-up to the Delhi assembly elections Feb 7. The results will be declared Feb 10.
