विश्व बैंक ने गुरुवार को कहा कि उसने 25 विकासशील देशों में कोरोनोवायरस प्रतिक्रिया संचालन के लिए आपातकालीन निधियों में प्रारंभिक $ 1.9 बिलियन की मंजूरी दी है, जिसमें आधी से अधिक सहायता भारत में तेजी से फैलने वाली बीमारी से लड़ने में मदद के लिए है।
विश्व बैंक ने कहा कि आने वाले दिनों और हफ्तों में उभरते बाजार के देशों में परियोजनाओं पर कार्रवाई की उम्मीद है।

मैलग ने संवाददाताओं से कहा कि उन्हें विश्वास था कि बैंक और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मुद्रा कोष आधिकारिक द्विपक्षीय लेनदारों के लिए अपने संयुक्त पुश पर प्रगति कर सकते हैं ताकि सबसे गरीब देशों को 1 मई से शुरू होने वाले 14 महीनों के लिए ऋण सेवा भुगतान निलंबित कर सकें।
मलपास ने कहा कि वह आश्वस्त था कि 20 प्रमुख अर्थव्यवस्थाओं के सभी समूह इस तरह के ऋण राहत का समर्थन करेंगे।
मलपास ने कहा, "इस कारण से हम इस दिशा में जा रहे हैं क्योंकि हमें लगता है कि यह उचित है ... और यह आधिकारिक द्विपक्षीय लेनदारों द्वारा जल्दी से किया जा सकता है।"
उन्होंने कहा कि सऊदी अरब और फ्रांस जी 20 के भीतर "सामान्य और समान ऋण राहत" को प्राप्त करने के प्रयास में अग्रणी थे, "अगर सभी भाग लेते हैं तो यह सबसे अच्छा काम करता है।"
