There has been a new twist in the case of the death of renowned singer and icon Zubeen Garg. His bandmate, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, has made serious allegations, claiming that Zubeen's manager, Siddharth Sharma, and festival organizer, Shyamkanu Mahanta, poisoned him to death and conspired to pass it off as an accident.
In his witness statement, Goswami stated that manager Sharma's behavior prior to Zubeen's death was suspicious. An FIR has already been filed against the manager, facing serious non-bailable charges such as murder, criminal conspiracy, and culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
What are the allegations?
Goswami stated that Sharma was staying with him at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore. During a yacht trip, the manager forcibly took control of the yacht from the captain, causing the boat to sway dangerously in the sea, endangering everyone's lives.
Goswami claimed that Sharma asked Tanmay Phukan, a member of the Assam Association (Singapore), to arrange drinks. He stated that when Zubin was struggling to breathe and was on the verge of drowning, the manager was shouting, "Jabo de, jabo de" (Let him go).
Goswami stated that Zubin was a trained swimmer and had taught Sharma and him swimming. Therefore, it is impossible for him to have died by drowning. He alleged that Sharma and Mahanta poisoned Zubin and chose Singapore as the location to conceal the conspiracy.
Goswami's Serious Allegations Against Sharma
Goswami stated that when Zubin was foaming from his mouth and nose, Sharma attributed it to acid reflux and told others not to worry. However, by not immediately seeking medical help, he worsened the situation, hastening Zubin's death.
However, Sharma and Mahanta have denied these allegations during interrogation. However, investigating agencies say that witness statements, financial transactions, and other evidence raise serious doubts about Sharma's role.
