IND W vs AUS W: Australia created history, achieved the biggest target in women's ODI with Healy's captaincy innings.

The Australian women's team created history on Sunday by chasing a target of 331 runs against India. The team achieved the highest target in women's ODI cricket with three wickets remaining, setting a new record. Batting first in this thrilling Women's World Cup match played in Visakhapatnam, India scored 330 runs in 48.5 overs. Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana batted brilliantly for India, sharing a 155-run partnership. Chasing the target, Australia won the match by scoring 331 runs for seven wickets in 49 overs, thanks to a brilliant innings by captain Alyssa Healy. Healy played a powerful and match-winning innings of 142 runs from 107 balls. For India, Shree Charani took three wickets, while Amanjot Kaur and Deepti Sharma took two wickets each.

 

Australia achieved the highest target in women's ODIs

Australia successfully achieved the target of 331 runs with six balls remaining. This is the highest run chase in women's ODI history. The previous record was 302 runs, achieved by the Sri Lankan women's team against South Africa in 2024.

 

Australia Reaches Top

With three wins from four matches and seven points, the Australian team has reached the top of the Women's World Cup points table. Meanwhile, England has once again slipped to second place. India, having lost two consecutive matches, remains in third place. They have four points and a net run rate of 0.682. South Africa, also with four points, is in fourth place. However, their net run rate is -0.888.

 

Alyssa Healy's Captaincy Innings

Captain Alyssa Healy (142) scored a brilliant century to lead the team to a historic victory. Healy attacked the Indian bowlers from the start. She changed the course of the match by hitting a six and three fours in an over bowled by Kranti Gaud. Healy reached her half-century in just 35 balls, the fastest fifty of the current World Cup. She then reached her sixth century in her career in just 84 balls. She departed after scoring 142 runs off 107 balls, including 21 fours and three sixes.

 

Shri Charani (10-1-41-3) bowled a brilliant spell for India, taking crucial wickets of Phoebe Litchfield and Annabel Sutherland. Australia were at 265 for three at one stage, but Healy's dismissal (142) brought the score to 303/7. Healy and Ashleigh Gardner (45) added 95 runs for the fourth wicket, bringing the match back into Australia's grasp. Ellyse Perry (47 not out), who had earlier retired hurt, eventually returned to complete the winning innings.

 

Mandhana and Pratika gave a strong start.

Smriti Mandhana (80) and Pratibha Rawal (75) shared a 155-run opening partnership, providing a solid foundation for the team. Mandhana reached her half-century in 46 balls, becoming the fastest and youngest player to reach 5,000 runs in women's ODIs during the same innings. Raval also reached her fifty in 69 balls. Mandhana accelerated the momentum by hitting 18 runs in spinner Sophie Molineux's first over. Together, they recorded their sixth 100-run partnership. However, India's momentum slowed after Mandhana's dismissal. Subsequently, Raval, captain Harmanpreet Kaur, and Harleen Deol departed in quick succession, leaving the score at 240/4 in the 38th over. Finally, Richa Ghosh (28) and Jemimah Rodrigues (33) added 54 runs for the fifth wicket to take India past 300. Pacer Annabel Sutherland took five wickets, with Sophie Molineux taking three, while Megan Scott and Ashleigh Gardner each took one wicket.
