Today is the 101st day of the peasant movement. Farmers sitting in protest against agricultural laws are blocking the KMP-KGP Expressway in Haryana from 11 am to 4 pm on Saturday. During this time vehicles of essential services will not be stopped. This jam is being imposed on the call of United farmer Morcha. At the same time, the police administration is ready to deal with the situation. The police administration has devised a strategy to deal with mischievous elements and put up duties of police personnel under the leadership of DSP level officers.
Police, RAF, paramilitary and anti-riot squad deployed
Police personnel and RAF paramilitary forces have been deployed with anti-riot equipment in addition to the concerned police station and outpost in-charge to assist DSP level officers. Traffic diversion has also been made separately because of the possibility of road jamming in the district. Apart from this, 8 places will be blocked at National Highway on the Gadpuri border, Doodhaula Mor, Karman Border, Babri Mode Hodal, Asavata Mode, Agra Chowk, and KGP at Jalahaka and Noh Border at KMP. Farmer leaders have said that till the agricultural laws are withdrawn and the MSP is not enacted, the farmers will continue the movement.
More than 200 agitators killed so far
On 26 November, farmers from Punjab and Haryana sat on a strike at the Tekri border near Bahadurgarh on the Rohtak-Delhi highway and Kundli at Sonepat on National Highway No.1. There were reports of clashes between farmers and police throughout Haryana. Lathicharge and water cannon were used. After this, on the very first day of the dharna, a tractor mechanic from Punjab, Janakraj died after being burnt alive in a car near the Tikri. Then more than 200 agitators have died due to chills, heart attacks, and mental stress suicides.
There was a nuisance in Delhi on 26 January
For the last 100 days, farmers' protests are going on all around Delhi including Tikri, Kundli, and Ghazipur. The biggest controversy occurred on January 26, when farmers were allowed to enter the name of the tractor parade in Delhi and then hoisted the Khalsayi flag insulting the tricolor at the ramparts of the Red Fort. A large number of police personnel were also injured during the nuisance. The Punjab government has appointed a panel of 70 lawyers to fight the case registered against the agitating farmers named in this case.
Meeting several times
First meeting: 14 October
Agriculture Secretary Narendra Singh Tomar replaced Agriculture Secretary in the meeting. Farmers' organizations boycotted the meeting. He wanted to talk to the Agriculture Minister only.
Second meeting: 13 November
Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal held a meeting with farmer organizations. The conversation lasted for 7 hours but yielded no results.
Third meeting: 1 December
There was talk for three hours. The government suggested setting up an expert committee, but the farmers' organizations remained adamant about repealing all three laws.
Fourth meeting: 3 December
The conversation lasted for 7 and a half hours. The government promised that the MSP would not be tampered with. The farmers said that the government should also repeal all three laws.
Fifth meeting: 5 December
The government agreed to give a written guarantee on the MSP, but the farmers clearly said that the government should answer yes or no if the law is repealed.
Sixth meeting: 8 December
Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting on the day of Bharat Bandh. The next day, the government proposed 22 pages, but the farmer organizations turned it down.
Seventh meeting: 30 December
Narendra Singh Tomar and Piyush Goyal held a meeting with 40 representatives of farmer organizations. Disagreements persisted on two issues, but the agreement was reached on two.
Eighth meeting: January 4
In the meeting that lasted 4 hours, the farmers were adamant on the demand for withdrawal of the law. After the meeting was over, the Agriculture Minister said that the clap sounded with both hands.
Ninth meeting: 8 January
The conversation was inconclusive. The farmers took a stance in the meeting. Farmer leaders also put up posters in the meeting, which was written in Gurmukhi - Will die or win.
Tenth meeting: 15 January
The meeting lasted for about 4 hours. The farmers remained adamant about returning the law. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that you too should accept some things of the government.
11th meeting: 20th January
The Center proposed to the farmers that laws would not be enforced for a year and a half. Apart from this, a committee will be formed to discuss the MSP.
