Ghaziabad, April 8 (IANS) BJP candidate General V.K. Singh Tuesday alleged that the parliamentary constituency has about 2.6 lakh fake voters in the electors list despite the district administration having been apprised of such bogus names.
Speaking to media persons, the former army chief said the Election Commission (EC) has been informed of the district administration's step-motherly treatment towards his party.
Giving examples, he said workers of the Bahujan Samaj Party disrupted the opening of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office at Dhaulana in the district.
Similarly, the SDM did not allow him to attend a ritual function at a house since section 144 of CrPC was imposed at the venue. When V.K. Singh asked how could the section be clamped at a private home, the government official insisted the place was covered under the rule.
Commenting on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Shazia Ilmi's comment that the way the BJP was projecting him "is posing a dangerous trend", he said it is an anti-national act and has told the EC about it.
He further said that AAP's Amethi candidate Kumar Vishwas travels in business class and charges up to Rs.2 lakh per event.
On the occasion, V.K. Singh released a manifesto in which he has assured communal harmony along with development of infrastructure, Metro rail, road transport, electricity, betterment of slum areas and women's safety.
