T20 World Cup 2024: India may still be out of the semi-finals, but the results of these two matches will shatter their title hopes

Posted on 24th Jun 2024 12:45 pm by rohit kumar

The journey of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2024 has been great so far. Team India has not faced defeat in a single match so far. After winning 3 matches in the group stage, the Men in Blue have won both their matches in the Super-8.

In such a situation, speculations have started that the Indian team will easily reach the semi-finals. However, this journey is not going to be easy for the Rohit Brigade. Rohit Sharma and company will clash with Australia in the last match of Super-8. If the Kangaroo team defeats India in this match, then the problems of Team India may increase.

Net run rate will be decisive

If Australia defeats India, then both teams will have 4-4 points. On the other hand, the other two teams in Group 1 are Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Both the teams have played 2-2 matches. During this, Afghanistan has 2 and Bangladesh has 0 points. In the 52nd match of the T20 World Cup 2024, the Afghan team will face Bangladesh. If the team captained by Rashid Khan wins this match, then India, Australia, and Afghanistan will have 4-4 points from Group 1. In this situation, the net run rate will be decisive.

If the match is washed away by rain

At present, the net run rate of the Indian team is +2.425, Australia's +0.223 and Afghanistan's -0.650. If Australia defeats India by a margin of 41 runs or more, then the run rate of the Kangaroo team will be better than India. On the other hand, if Afghanistan manages to defeat Bangladesh by 83 runs or more, then its net rate will be more than India's 2.425. However, if the match between Australia and India is washed away by rain, then India will reach the semi-finals.
