Customs officials on Wednesday busted arms smuggling and recovered 45 pistols at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in the capital Delhi. The authorities have also arrested two Indian nationals along with the arms. It is being investigated whether the guns recovered from civilians are genuine or not. The National Security Guard (NSG), which is probing the recovered weapons, has said in its report that the guns appear to be completely genuine.
Both the arrested persons have been identified as Jagjit Singh and Jaswinder Kaur, who are husband and wife. The couple returned to India from Vietnam on July 10. The officers caught Jagjit Singh in two trolley bags with the pistol which was given to him by his brother Manjit Singh.

Manjit Singh was allegedly given a bag full of weapons by Jagjit Singh, who visited Paris and France, in Vietnam. The total value of the recovered guns has been estimated at Rs 22,50,000. Both the accused have admitted that earlier they had brought 25 pistols from Turkey to India. Presently further investigation in this matter is going on.
