The contest has become interesting after the Aam Aadmi Party entered the fray in the Gujarat assembly elections this time. However, there was no enthusiasm among the people for voting in the first phase. This was the reason that this time there was five percent less voting as compared to the 2017 assembly elections. Due to this, lines of worry have emerged on the forehead of the leaders of both the BJP and Congress parties. With AAP coming into the fray, on the one hand, BJP has the challenge to save its seat, on the other hand, Congress would like to increase its seat.
Worry more for Congress
However, the challenge for the Congress is bigger than for the BJP, as the vote share of the Congress may decline further with the entry of the AAP. Talking about the last two terms, now 15 out of 16 seats in Surat are in BJP's account. At the same time, Congress has only one seat in its account. In 2017, where there was 66.65 percent voted in Surat, and this time there was 61.71 percent voted. This difference is scaring the leaders.
Parties are also confused as to why there was such a low turnout, while all parties expected that the voting percentage would be the best this time. Amidst all this, it is believed that the Aam Aadmi Party can benefit. However, the number of seats AAP will be able to win here will be known only on December 8.
Challenge for BJP to save its 15 seats
Talking about the assembly elections of 2012 and 2017, where there was 70% voting in 2012, it decreased to 66.65% in 2017. Whereas in 2022, it fell slightly further to 61 percent. In this way, 4-5 percent of polling is decreasing every time. This time AAP has become a challenge for BJP-Congress. BJP is trying to save its seats. In 2012, where the BJP got 115 seats in the state, in 2017 the seats came down to 99. However, in 2017, the Patidar movement was a big issue.
These 6 seats are the safest seat of the BJP
Majura, Paschim, Limbayat, Chaurasi, Udhna, and Olpad are considered the safest seats for the BJP, but a tough fight is possible with Aslam Cyclewala in the east. On the other hand, tough competition can be seen in Varachha, Katargam, Kamrej, Uttar, and Karanj.
