New Delhi, Feb 6 (IANS) A total of 55,000 policemen, along with paramilitary forces would be deployed Saturday to maintain law and order and ensure peaceful voting in the Delhi assembly polls, police said Friday.
Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi told reporters that the booth-level deployment of police would be done by Friday evening.
"A total of 55,000 policemen would be deployed on roads as well as at booths in Delhi. We have got additional support from the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force). Returning officers and other officers from different departments would visit booths tomorrow (Saturday)," Bassi said.
He said that a special commissioner rank officer along with others would monitor activities at various polling booths from the control room.
Delhi goes to polls Feb 7 and the results for the 70-assembly seats will be declared Feb 10.
